New Labour Codes 2025: Key Compliance Shifts

The New Labour Codes effective from November 21, 2025, replace 29 earlier labour laws with a unified framework covering Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, and Occupational Safety & Health. Organizations must now issue appointment letters to all workers, ensure minimum wages apply across all sectors, and extend statutory benefits like PF and ESIC to gig, platform, and contract workers. The Codes permit women’s full occupational participation including night work with safety protocols, introduce a single registration and compliance mechanism, and mandate free annual health check-ups for workers above 40. Employers must immediately align their payroll systems, HR policies, and operational processes with these new compliance requirements.
